Botox and Fillers Q&A

What is Botox?

Botox is a highly effective name-brand injectable that removes fine lines for months after treatments. You develop wrinkles and fine lines as your skin loses collagen fibers and gets sun exposure.

Even though Botox isn’t permanent, it can reduce your most prominent fine facial lines for months, and you can get it repeatedly.

The active ingredient in Botox is a purified form of botulinum toxin. It temporarily stops communications between targeted nerves and underlying muscles. Crow’s feet, frown lines, and other common lines form because of constant muscle-flexing, so relaxing the muscles with Botox reduces them.

What are fillers?

Dermal fillers are a type of cosmetic injectable that works in different ways than Botox. The Health and MedSpa team injects Juvéderm® hyaluronic acid fillers beneath your skin to add soft volume. Using Juvéderm fillers at Health and MedSpa, you can:

  • Plump your lips
  • Reshape asymmetrical lips
  • Plump your cheeks
  • Reduce recessed scars
  • Minimize deep wrinkles of the lower face
  • Diminish hollow or sunken under-eye areas

The Health and MedSpa team plans your injectables treatment to reach your goals within reason. Hyaluronic acid fillers like Juvéderm dissolve naturally, and they hold shape for six months to a year or longer depending on the treatment area.

Just like with Botox, you can get injections again for maintenance once the results fade.

Should I consider getting Botox or fillers?

Botox and fillers like Juvéderm are minimally invasive and a low risk for healthy individuals. You should attend a consultation at Health and MedSpa to make sure the injectables can meet your goals safely and effectively. You might be a candidate for Botox, Juvéderm, or both if:

  • You’re 18 or older
  • You’re under 65
  • Your age-related skin changes make you self-conscious
  • You don’t have any active skin infections
  • Your goals are within reach
  • You can take great care of your skin before and after treatment

The Health and MedSpa team can treat you with Botox and fillers, and they can also recommend other aesthetic services for skin health and vitality. You can work with your providers to make a comprehensive cosmetic treatment plan using injectables and more.

If you’re interested in getting Botox and fillers together or separately, call Health and MedSpa or book your visit online today.
